Background
My name is Michele Esposito and I work as a full-time freelance translator.
I was born in 1969 and was educated in Italy. My education in the English language
started at high school, I trained and worked for several years as a linguist, and I have
undertaken professional training as an interpreter and translator into Italian and out
of English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
I have spent several years in England and in France and many months in Spain,
Portugal and Germany both studying English, French, Spanish, German and Portuguese.Thus I can provide and I currently do general and technical translations out of
English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and German into Italian.

My Experience
I have undertaken a number of technical translations as well as working for several
worldwide agencies and direct clients mainly as a freelancer. However, I have also
worked for several months in one of the biggest localisation company in the world
achieving an excellent expertise in this indutry:1994/Present:
Freelance, Full-Time Translator/Localiser/Reviewer/Linguistic Advisor specialising
in software, automative, medical and commerce/financial translations. Several direct
clients in England, USA & Spain. Other regular clients in Canada, Switzerland, France
and Taiwan.
Jobs done:
Technical (webpages, graphical user interface, user, operating, safety and training
manuals, material data sheets, study reports, proposals), business (product description, in-
house material), general (questionnaires, newspaper and magazine articles, etc.).
June 1997/February 1998:
Full Time & in-house Italian Translator/Editor/Reviewer/Linguistic Advisor at SDL
International, Software Documentation and Localisation , Maidenhead, Berkshire,
England.
Worked effectively with Machine Assisted Translation (Amptran). Managed and
co-ordinated a database/group of freelancers to ensure the successful completion of each
project. Duties included:

My Computer Equipment
I utilize a Windows-based machine. The details of the hardware and software are as follows:
Pentium II 450 Mhz, 1,19 GB and 850 MB HDDS, 128MB RAM.
Runs Windows 98 with a good Language Kit, incorporating Trados, Amptran, Déjà Vu, IBM Translation Manager, Italian Assistant, Transcend English_Italian and Translate It; Word 7.0, Framemaker, PageMaker 6.5, QuarkExpress, Excel 7.0, Microsoft Access, Eudora and IE 4. 0.
Canon Laser Printer.
400dpi Color Scanner suitable for all line images.
ISDN 128 Kb and a fax-modem 33600 providing full Internet access.
Internet related software for compressing (.sit, .exe, .zip) and encoding (bin hex, uucode) files into Mac and Windows-based formats.
Microsoft Office for English and Italian word-processing and page layout and Accent for all other languages.
Ability to read from and write to other word-processor formats, such as MS Word, Word Perfect, etc.
Graphic Converter for conversion of Windows graphics formats (eg .pcx, .bmp etc) into and out of various Mac formats (eg pict, tiff, etc).
Adobe's Acrobat Reader to view pdf cross-platform compatible files. However, I cannot generate such files as yet.
This system allows me to handle a variety of Windows and Mac formats whilst ensuring cross-platform compatibility.
I also have a stand-alone fax and answering machine so you can contact me whilst I am out
or asleep (+33-5-58772584!)I can receive all your documents as:
Native Windows or Mac formats
I can produce page layout suitable for technical documents, and output the results as:
Hard copy (600 dpi printing), fax or computer
